Drive for CAB Co. on the Isle of Wight
We're a small operation and we only take on drivers who are genuinely good at the job. If that's you, we'd like to hear from you.
What the work looks like
Most of our runs are ferry terminal pickups, airport transfers, and regular account bookings for hotels and care homes across the island. It's structured, reliable work — not the feast-or-famine of a late-night taxi rank. You'll know your schedule in advance, you'll drive to and from the same ferry terminals week in week out, and you'll deal with passengers who are mostly glad to see you.
Tourists coming off the Wightlink at Fishbourne or the Red Funnel at East Cowes in peak summer are relieved when a driver's there waiting. That's most of what the job is.
Hours are flexible and we try to work around commitments. Some drivers do early morning airport runs and finish by noon. Others cover evenings and weekends. We're a small team so the schedule is a conversation, not a rota that gets handed down.
What you'll need
- Full UK driving licence with a clean record
- Isle of Wight Council private hire driver's licence (or willingness to apply)
- A reliable, presentable vehicle that meets IoW Council standards
- Good knowledge of roads across the island — Newport, Ryde, Shanklin, Ventnor, Cowes, Yarmouth
- Reliable availability — we work around commitments but need consistency
If you don't have an IoW Council licence yet, we can point you toward the application process, which involves a DBS check, a medical, and a local knowledge test. Good knowledge of the island is valued; if you've lived here a while and know your way around Ventnor's one-way system and the back roads near Bembridge, that matters more than a long CV.
